The concrete median just south of City Hall is a popular spot for photos. Wedding, tourist, selfies – they all look great with the ornate building standing behind and the lights glowing up Broad St. It’s also the spot Shannen Moser chose for the final installment of a live video series she’s been doing this summer, filming Oh, My Heartcloser “Dirt and Water” well past sundown as cars fly by.

The video, which we’re premiering below today, is the sixth entry in the series that began with Moser singing “Yr Undertaker” in front of the SS United States. Since then, the local musician performed “Yard” in a park, “Alex (282)” in Gray’s Ferry, “Grower” outside of the original West Philadelphia High School building (built in 1912, now becoming lofts), and “Watershed” by the Fairmount Water Works along the Schuylkill River.

Stripping “Dirt and Water” down to just an acoustic guitar and vocals, the already heart-wrenching song becomes even more intimate. Shannen writes:

“‘Dirt and Water’ was a really special song to do a video for. I wrote it in 2015 so it’s a bit old but still holds a lot of meaning for me. It’s about home and the idea of leaving home and people defining your home, so it’s absolutely fitting that we filmed it in Philadelphia, my current home!”

Watch the video below and pick up tickets here to see Shannen Moser and Slaughter Beach, Dog at Johnny Brenda’s on August 17th. Oh, My Heart is out on Lame-O Records now.
