“I talked to David Bowie. I thought I couldn’t talk to him, but he was so gracious and so friendly. I had an email friendship with David Bowie, which is one of the weirder, more amazing things.”- James Murphy-LCD Soundsystem

After a seven-year hiatus LCD Soundsystem is making music and touring again. But that might not have happened if it hadn’t been for David Bowie’s advice to James Murphy to get “uncomfortable.”

James Murphy was a guest on BBC Radio 6 Music with Lauren Laverne and he talked about his relationship with David Bowie, and how the late icon inspired him to re-unite LCD Soundsystem. Listen below.

As NME.com reports, James Murphy worked with David Bowie a lot during the final years of Bowie’s life, remixing ‘The Next Day’ song ‘Love Is Lost’ and performing percussion on his last album “Blackstar.”

LCD Soundsystem will perform in Philadelphia on December 5th and 6th at The Fillmore Philly, and Dec. 11th through Dec. 23rd at Brooklyn Steel.
