A few months after debuting their new EP F/V Hope, Philly folk-ish indie outfit Friendship have shared a cover of Seekonk’s track, “Woo-hoo.” Included on Burst and Bloom’s 50th anniversary compilation, the comp features covers of tracks created by the label’s artists over the years.

Friendship’s reworking of the Portland, Maine band’s song, “Woo-hoo,” slows down the sparkly, effervescent tune into an almost unrecognizable counterpart. Scattered patterns of cymbals take center stage on the cover, with Friendship trading in the original’s brighter vocals with somber, sluggish tones that underscore the song’s melancholic lyrics and throw irony to the track’s title and chorus.

You can catch Friendship when they perform at Johnny Brenda’s on August 14th with Kath Bloom. Find info on the 21+ show over at the XPN Concert Calendar, and listen to the track below.
