Amanda X has a new track and it’s going to make you late for work

Obviously, work is important — it pays the bills, it contributes to society, so on and so on. But sometimes, life gets in the way and you have to be a few minutes tardy. This is the case for local punk trio, Amanda X, in their new track, “Dear Marie.”

Chugging along with the consistent phrase, “I am late for work,” co-frontwoman Kat Bean’s justifiable explanations follow in suit. Though fairly steady in sound and tone, the track’s lyrics convey a different story as pieces of an intense, long-time-coming conversation materialize.

“Dear Marie” will be included on Amanda X’s upcoming sophomore album, Giant, which is out on August 18th. The band will also be donating the proceeds in conjunction with Self Aware Records to Women Against Abuse, so slow jam along to the track below, and perhaps share it with your boss in your apologetic, running late email.
