Country-folk duo Jackson Pines recently released Lost and Found, an EP follow up to this year’s debut LP Purgatory Road. Featuring four tracks, the collection is a beautiful and open journey of dealing with pain and heartbreak.

Though tipping more heavily to country than folk at times, this isn’t the kind of generic, glossy tunes flooding its genre airwaves. Jackson Pines digs deep to get to a rootsier place — sounding raw, honest, and vulnerable with a twangy edge.

A perfect example of this country / indie folk mashup is the EP’s third tune, “You Will Never Understand” which combines a deep grittiness along with Angus and Julia Stone reminiscent harmonicas; while last track “Undone” stands bare with a sweet acoustic melody and Joe Makoviecki’s vocals reaching stripped sincerity through the chorus.

Jackson Pines will be playing at The Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, NJ on August 16th. Find info on the show here, and stream Lost and Found below.
