If you were at the XPoNential Music Festival last week, you were probably blown away by Phoebe Bridgers when she joined Conor Oberst onstage to duet with him on “Lua.” Bridgers, who is from Los Angeles, is out on tour with Oberst, in support of her debut album.

In 2015, Bridgers released her 3 song debut EP, Killers, produced by Ryan Adams on his Pax Am label. At the time, Adams called Bridgers a “musical unicorn” who “could make a jar of sand sound like ‘Blood On The Tracks’”. Earlier this year, Bridgers released the haunting and captivating “Smoke Signals”, a stop-you-cold-in-your-tracks, jaw-dropper of a song. Pensive and intimate, highlighted by Bridgers’ angelic singing and a Twin Peaks-esque singular guitar line, it’s one of the best new songs of the year.

A confessional singer-songwriter raised on Jackson Browne, and musically akin to Elliot Smith and Cat Power, Bridgers is a phenomenal new talent on the rise. Below, listen to “Motion Sickness” from her forthcoming album Stranger in the Alps, out September 22nd.
