Spruce Street Harbor Park’s weekly Waterfront Sessions continue tonight with Philly experimental indie rockers Palm. Their latest is the Shadow Experts EP, a six-song effort that abides by no certain genre’s boundaries. Part of that comes from the fact that none of the members have no formal musical training, part of it comes from their desire to reverse what popularity demands. At times it sounds a bit mathy, at other moments more noisey. Most of the time, though, it is very much original. The Guests, also a Philly band with more of a grim pop sound, will also perform. The show is free and begins at 6:30 p.m. More info can be found here.

Erykah Badu headlines tonight at the Dell Music Center in Fairmount Park East. The legendary singer-songwriter is considered to be the Queen of Neo Soul, making a career out of her signature blend of R&B, jazz and hip-hop. It’s now been 20 years since her Grammy-winning, triple-platinum debut album Baduizm was released. You can hear its hit “On & On” below. R&B singer-songwriter Ro James will open the 8 p.m. show. For tickets and more information, stop by the XPN Concert Calendar.
