On the heels of performing the loaded Philly Music Fest at World Cafe Live, Eric Slick just shared a new track titled “secrets” via Boiled Records, which features Speedy Ortiz’s / Sad13’s Sadie Dupuis.

Of the song, Slick describes writing it after watching a news piece focused on a Jewish real estate agent in Montana who had been viciously trolled and threatened by a Neo-nazi hate group. Slick states:

“It was horrifying and heartbreaking to watch. It made me fear for my Jewish family and friends. The lyrics of this song are decidedly vitriolic against anyone who thinks they have the privilege to hate for no reason, namely our current president and his followers. Keeping a secret about your identity is now a powerful and useful tool against those who want to bring you down.

Also included in the track is fellow local, Sadie DuPuis of Speedy Ortiz.  Of the collab, Slick states, “After recording, I was thinking the song needed some guitar. Sadie Dupuis is a guitar genius, and one of my favorite musicians so I reached out. She graciously added a jaw dropping guitar solo.” Jaw-dropping indeed, it’s pretty dang crunchy.

All proceeds from the Bandcamp track will benefit Beyond the Bars — an organization that provides incarcerated youth with musical instruments and instruction. Go help spread some bit of kindness in this very consistently scary world by downloading the track here.
