Philadelphia indie group Friendship just released their third single from their upcoming project Shock Out of Season, out November 3rd on Orindal Records. The first two tracks, “If You See My Beloved” and “Sal”, are tender meditations on miscommunication and solitude that move listeners with ringing synths, melodic acoustic sections, and comfortable Kurt Vile-esque vocals.

The new single, “Skip To The Good Part”, is a testament to Friendship frontman Dan Wriggins’ slightly off-putting but searingly truthful songwriting. “Skip To The Good Part” weighs in on the indecision and unsureness that comes along with pursuing a relationship. Wriggins writes “I hope you hang around / You’re always welcome / You’re not imposing / But come on, make up your mind,” clearly trying to act indifferent while still exuding a strong sense of wanting due to an inherent fear of being alone. Along with these sobering lyrical themes, the song maintains a sense of optimism with ringing major chords and lightweight bells every other bar.

Listen to the song below, and keep an eye out for Shock out of Season on November 3rd. You can also catch them on tour in Haverford on November 4th, Philly on November 17th, and Gettysburg on the 18th. Details at the XPN Concert Calendar.
