If you couldn’t attend the Project Pabst fest this past September — and if, like I, you were distraught at missing Big Thief performing in the general vicinity without your presence to soak in the immense beautifulness of it — don’t you fret. You can still experience the soft, lulling magnificence of front woman Adrianne Lenker’s project this March at Johnny Brenda’s.
Slotted to play sans full-band, Lenker’s already delicate songs might just conjure an atmosphere even more intensely intimate as she performs solo. This also means I better be able to hear a pin drop, future fellow crowd.
Smoothly sparse neo-soul artist Nick Hakim will round up the lineup for a very good bill indeed; so good that it’s happening twice with an early all-ages show along with the later 21+ performance. Find more info on tickets to the gigs here and here, which go on sale this Friday at noon.
Get a glimpse into Lenker’s powerful solo abilities before springtime by watching an acoustic set she performed for Gladden House sessions this past summer below. Her band, Big Thief, is one of this year’s #NPRSingshot artists as well; more on that here.
