Todd Rundgren is going on tour this spring with Utopia, his progressive rock band formed in 1973. They are playing two shows in the area; Saturday, May 5th at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby, and they open the tour at Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe, PA, on Wednesday, April 18th. The reunion features Rundgren, original members Kasim Sulton (bass) and drummer Willie Wilcox of Utopia and keyboardist Ralph Schuckett of Todd Rundgren’s Utopia.

Fans of the band should be on the lookout for a seven CD collection – The Road to Utopia: The Complete Recordings (1974-82) – to be released April 20 in tandem with Record Store Day. It will include 15 bonus tracks as well as remastered versions of Utopia classics and deep album cuts. While the band broke up in 1982, there have been several shows since. The most recent, Todd Rundgren’s Utopia, was in 2011.

Below, watch a performance of the band performing “Love Is The Answer” on the Mike Douglas show from 1980 and the sprawling “Utopia Theme” from the 1974 Todd Rundgren’s Utopia album.
