Local pop rock crew Work Drugs have released a new single, the second to appear on upcoming LP Holding On To Forever. Following up the fervent lead single “Miami Nights,” “The Edge of Forever” sonically switches lanes, downshifting into an unhurried pace, perfectly set for a late-night, open road drive.

Nostalgic, contemplative, and clocking in at just under 5 minutes, the band allows room for the instrumentation (and emotions) to breathe. Echoing, reverb-drenched drums act as the support system holding the song together, assisted by a bouncing bass line. Grounding the track down from the start, the support gives way for a smooth saxophone line, leading into the final, driving movement.

Stream the song via the group’s Soundcloud below, and view an accompanying video, paired with wistful clips of Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson from Lost in Translation. Also, catch Work Drugs at The Foundry on April 7th, where they’ll be supporting Aussie contemporaries Cub Sport. More information and tickets can be found on XPN’s Concert Calendar.
