UK Folktronica act and XPN-favorite Beth Orton announced her return to Philadelphia along with the tease of new music this year. In an interview with Headliner Magazine, Orton said she has “some releases this year of unheard collaborations with some pretty special people.” Considering Orton’s track record of collaborators (seminal electronic big beat pioneers The Chemical Brothers and Grammy-award winning composer William Orbit, most notably), this is shaping up to be a promising project.
While no timeline has been announced for the new songs, Orton has announced a handful of US appearances slated for this June. A stop at World Cafe Live is among the few dates announced, scheduled for June 15. Orton’s most recent appearance in Philly was in 2016 at The Foundry in support of her latest album, Kidsticks.
