“A theater-going experience of extraordinary dimensions” -Hamilton star Leslie Odom Jr. about “Springsteen on Broadway.”

The nominations for the 72nd annual Tony Awards were announced this morning, and Bruce Springsteen will receive a special Tony Award for his work on Broadway.

Bruce Springsteen will be honored at the 2018 Tonys for his production of Springsteen on Broadway. The Boss’ intimate, five-nights-a-week residency was first announced in August 2017. Since then it’s been extended — most recently with 81 new dates.  By the time it concludes Springsteen will have played 236 shows at the Walter Kerr Theatre. The 2018 Tony Awards will be handed out on Sunday, June 10 at Radio City Music Hall, hosted by Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban, and air live on CBS starting at 8 p.m.

In addition to Springsteen being recognized by the Tony Awards this year, other notable musicians to be honored include Steven Tyler, John Legend, T.I., and those who worked on the musical version of SpongeBob SquarePants.
