Honey Swell is the project of Iowa-based songwriter Olivia Heath and Pennsylvania-based Rachel Wild (of Beach Bod), who collaborate by trading recordings over the Internet. Their first EP, released with Tower To The Sea Records, is a crushing embrace from a friend you haven’t seen in a long time. You want to soak in it, arms encircled for just another minute longer.

Immediately captivating with its thrumming bassline and interjected with birdsong effects, “Ambivalence” sounds reminiscent of Land of Talk or Snail Mail, potentially placing these DIY up-and-comers in the ranks of rising indie rock frontwomen. “Fever Tree” is tender and reserved, a muted landscape of acoustic guitar. “Bad City” is a drowsy, downbeat number anchored with the weight of its deep-diving instrumentals.

In this EP, Honey Swell promises an experimental range in their blossoming sound; check out “Ambivalence” below and listen to the full EP now via The Grey Estates.
