DJ Matthew Law’s new music video imagines the possibilities of intergalactic romance
Philly’s DJ Matthew Law put out a video for single “I Call Her,” featuring Seven Davis Jr. and animated by Donte Neal, a designer at Philadelphia Printworks. Over a throbbing bass and hypnotic, danceable beats, the vibrant animation plays out the story of an intergalactic relationship. As Law tells The Fader about working with Neal:
“We’ve been friends for years. I came to him with the idea of making a short, repeating animation for the song; something simple for YouTube. He was like, ‘Nah, I have an idea, bare with me for a bit.’ A month or two later, we had this wild animated story of intergalactic love. It was originally a homage to a past relationship, but somehow became so much more.”
Surreal and enchanting to watch, the video is a perfect visualization of the song with its pulsing vibrations and electric vocals; check it out below.
