Just Announced: Tank and the Bangas will be joined by Big Freedia on tour this fall, with a stop at the TLA in October

Although we may still be recovering from the unforgettable “vortex of crazy” that was Tank and the Bangas‘ XPN Fest performance, it’s never too soon to welcome them back for another show. Now that we’ve had over a week to catch our breath post-festival, the news of Tank and the Bangas’ return to Philly feels perfectly timed, and their upcoming fall tour couldn’t have a better lineup.

Tank and the Bangas will play the TLA on October 20 along with co-headliner Big Freedia and opener Naughty Professor — a New Orleans triple bill. Bounce queen Big Freedia sold out Boot & Saddle a few years back and recently released an EP, 3rd Ward Bounce (for those unfamiliar, bounce music is generally a mix of southern hip-hop plus fast-paced dance music plus plenty of twerking). The genre-defying Tank and the Bangas, who started to receive widespread attention after winning the 2017 NPR Music Tiny Desk Contest, recently signed with Verve and have new music forthcoming.

Tickets for the show go on sale this Friday, August 10. Find more information on the XPN Concert Calendar.
