Vampire Weekend and Peter Gabriel have a history — in “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” off their self-titled debut album (now ten years old) the lyrics shoutout Peter Gabriel. Gabriel later covered the song with Hot Chip (including the hysterically meta lyric change “it feels so unnatural to sing your own name”), and most recently Vampire Weekend paid tribute to their idol at End Of The Road festival in England last weekend.

“Cape Cod” breaks down into a wild instrumental solo before the pianist leads the band into a cover of “Solsbury Hill.” It’s a song-within-a-song that eventually circles back into the hooking bass line and bouncy harmony of “Cape Cod.” As sick of cover songs as you might be, this one deserves a chance.
