Jazz Philadelphia presents the inaugural Philadelphia Jazz Summit tomorrow and Saturday, November 2nd and 3rd. Spearheaded by jazz bassist Gerald Veasley, the event will bring together musicians, jazz enthusiasts, advocates, funders, and the arts and culture community. Registration is closed, however the meeting will be accepting limited walk ups.

The Summit will be held in Center City Philadelphia on the the Avenue of the Arts stretch of South Broad Street, with events taking place at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and the University of the Arts. You can glimpse the full schedule here.

Jazz Philadelphia was formed last year with a grant from the Wyncote Foundation to bring together individuals and organizations in the Philadelphia region who create, present, and support jazz to build a healthy, sustainable jazz community that is recognized around the world. Philadelphia has an incredible history of world class musicians, including in the jazz sphere. From past to present, Sun Ra and John Coltrane, to Christian McBride, and Derrick Hodge, so many have put Philly Jazz in the spotlight, and continue doing so.
