Gang of Youths announces tour with Foo Fighters, headlines Philly stop

After a successful run following the release of their 2017 album, Go Father In Lightness, Australian indie rockers Gang of Youths are returning to North America. The first half of the tour includes shows opening for the Foo Fighters, and appearances at California festival Cal Jam and Austin’s ACL Fest. They headline a Philly show at Underground Arts on December 8th. Tickets go on sale Friday, Sep 14. NonCOMM recap: Gang of Youths drive out depression with guitars and a dance party

“We have one more seven minute depression fest for you,” David Le’aupepe, the Aussie-born lead singer of Gang of Youths, began as he introduced one of the last songs of the night. I thought he was kidding. Depressing? This was the most uplifting stuff I’d heard in a long time.

With a perpetually building beat, shredding guitars, and soaring vocals, Gang of Youths’ music doesn’t let you wallow in your sadness, it summons you to tackle it and turn it into a dance party. All eyes are on Mitski in her new music video ”Geyser”

An anticipated set during night one of WXPN’s Non-COMM convention is from indie rocker Mitski Miyawaki, who just announced her latest full-length, Be The Cowboy, out August 17th via Dead Oceans Records. The album’s leadoff single ”Geyser,” released yesterday, truly emphasizes the intensity of Mitski’s vocals. It delivers a haunting, yet serene atmosphere — a feeling reflected in the music video, which takes place on a beach with dark skies and Mitski dead center and alone, dancing and gesturing for the camera.
