The Dove & the Wolf explores warmth, intimacy, and freedom in the “Free Around You” video

Before their new album Conversations is released on May 3, songwriting duo The Dove & the Wolf have shared a video for “Free Around You,” a single we heard a few weeks back. According to the band members, who split their time between France and the States, the shadowy video was shot on16mm film in Paris this winter. Directed by Leo Schrepel, it captures the hushed and dreamy feel of the song as Paloma Gil and Lou Hayat are basked in flashes of golden light. Continue reading →

The Dove & The Wolf’s bond is strong as ever on “Free Around You”

The Dove & The Wolf have shared a third single from their forthcoming album, Conversations. Though we first heard “Free Around You” during the band’s Audiotree session in 2017, it’s been reworked for the new album. Conversations, which will be the French-American duo’s first full-length, is out May 3.

After moving stateside from France, the duo of Paloma Gil and Lou Hayat spent several years here in Philly. Though they’ve now moved on — they’re currently split between Nashville and Paris — their cohesion as a songwriting duo is stronger than ever. Continue reading →

Just Announced: Offa Rex (The Decemberists + Olivia Chaney), Pinegrove, The Dove & The Wolf, Hardwork Movement and more added to XPoNential Music Festival 2017

The lineup of the 2017 XPoNential Music Festival keeps growing, with today’s addition of Offa Rex — a new collaboration between indie rock troubadours The Decemberists and singer-songwriter Olivia Chaney — to WXPN’s July gathering on the Camden waterfront. The band, which releases its debut album The Queen of Hearts July 7th on Nonesuch Records, blends traditional English-Irish-Scotch songwriting with folk rock and psychedelia. The Dove & The Wolf have taken Philadelphia by storm, first with their introductory Shaking Through Session and then, earlier this summer, with their I Don’t Know What To Feel EP. The Paris-born duo has a dreamy quality in their sound and a lost-in-thought style of lyrical writing, two characteristics that pair well with the nostalgic feeling of the new video for “The Smell of Us.”

Bandade hosting series of benefit concerts with The Dove & The Wolf, Bryant Eugene Vazquez and more

After a kick-off show at Milkboy in March, Nashville-born charitable organization Bandade officially set-up shop here in Philadelphia. The operation, which raises funds for the American Cancer Society through concerts and merchandise, has now announced a series of benefit shows happening here in town over the next few months.
