Last week Philly expat BC Camplight released a video for his new single, “I’m Desperate,” directed by Manchester–based collective ShortForm. Playing out like a nightmarish horror film, the video is meant to be reflective of Brexit Britain, but also draws parallels to the state of America after the 2016 presidential election. It is freaky and uncomfortable to watch. Set in an inception dream-within-a-dream scenario, flashing lights and flickering projections play over a writhing, feverish woman’s face. Continue reading →

Philly-via-Manchester outfit BC Camplight has released the video for “Grim Cinema”, the new single off this year’s How to Die in the North. The project’s first release in eight years, BC – aka Brian Christinzio – had spent the past three years in the north of England working on the album he had always dreamt of. The record draws heavily upon his overall feelings over life choices and regret that sometimes goes along with that, but the upbeat and poppy sounds of the album make the introspection a great listen.

“Grim Cinema” is the third single released from the new LP, and Christinzio believes it to be the best on the album. Continue reading →

Pop artist and multi-instrumentalist BC Camplight recently performed a hazy version of “Just Because I Love You” for Re:VERSION on a city rooftop in Rotterdam, Holland. This acoustic rendition takes on a much more indie-rock feel, and is a very interesting departure from the loungey original, which can be heard on the new How To Die In The North, released earlier this year through Bella Union. The UK-based artist will be returning to his hometown of Philadelphia to headline Union Transfer on June 9th. Check out the XPN Concert Calendar for more information. Continue reading →

With How To Die In the North inching closer and closer to its release date in January, Philly-turned-Manchester musician BC Camplight has shared a new video for album single “Just Because I Love You.”  The clip, directed by Seth Fuller, depicts the aftermath of a break-up in ultra-realistic fashion, from the periodic jolts of awareness to the eventually-regretted impulse decisions.  The song itself is a fantastic piece of soul / pop production, marking a triumphant return to form from Brian Christinzio. Check out the video below.  How To Die In the North is out January 20th on Bella Union.
