XPN Fest alums Diane Coffee bring their glam-rock sound and theatrical aesthetic to Boot & Saddle tonight. The full-band project of Foxygen drummer Shaun Fleming, Diane Coffee released a new 7″, Peel, a few weeks ago, and they’ve brought Canadian indie pop act Peach Pit along on this tour, too. After a highlight of a set at the XPoNential Music Festival this summer, Diane Coffee returns for a show at Boot & Saddle tonight. The full-band project of Foxygen drummer Shaun Fleming released its sophomore effort Everybody’s a Good Dog last year, earning acclaim for its glam rock-inspired aesthetic as well as the band’s theatrical live show. Diane Coffee is from another era. The intoxicatingly theatrical performance was filled with the essence of the greats that came before them, who would parade around the stage and truly give the audience a show. Getting fully into each song with a wide range of exaggerated facial expressions and mannerisms of the great frontmen and women of the ’60s and ’70s was a modern blast from the past to when rockstar sets would dazzle with a life and energy that couldn’t be contained.
