Aluna George is London electronic/R&B duo Aluna Francis and George Reid. They recently made their Philly debut at Made In America, and recently released their debut album Body Music. George met Aluna when he reached out to her former band to do a remix for them. After a failed attempt at writing together for the band, they decided to write for themselves, and AlunaGeorge was born. While the music is electronic based, it has a lot of elements of pop influenced R&B. Below, download “You Know You Like It.”

Free Download: AlunaGeorge’s “You Know You Like It” (playing Made in America Fest)

AlunaGeorge

AlunaGeorge released the video for “You Know You Like It” last month, and now the track from the duo’s debut album is the iTunes Free Single of the Week.  The electro-pop partnership of Aluna Francis and George Reid formed in London just a few years ago thanks to a MySpace message sent by Reid to Francis.  Festival slots and a second place spot on the BBC’s Sound of 2013 filled in the years since, with debut LP Body Music getting a midsummer release this year.  Watch the video for “You Know You Like It” below and get the free download from iTunes here.  AlunaGeorge will play Labor Day weekend’s Made in America Festival; tickets and information can be found here.

Watch: AlunaGeorge perform live on BBC (playing Made in America 9/1)

AlunaGeorgeHaving just released their debut album, Body Music, London electronic duo AlunaGeorge visited BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to perform a short set, which included a cover of Naughty Boy and Sam Smith’s “La La La.”  A former member of the band My Toys Like Me, Aluna Francis provides light and high-pitched vocals, both refreshing and sincere. Her partner, George Reid, works on the production side to slow down and glitch up the original dance favorite — techniques which are subtle, but certainly effective. You can see the duo this side of the Atlantic during Budweiser’s Made in America concert on September 1st. Check out the video for their live performance below and find tickets and information here.

Watch AlunaGeorge’s video for “You Know You Like It” (playing Made in America Festival)

AlunaGeorge+PNGAlthough they’ve only released a handful of tracks to date, “future-pop” duo AlunaGeorge are already creating a huge stir in the music world.  They’re already booking huge venues, including Philly’s Made in America Festival at the end of August.  In the meantime, AlunaGeorge just released a new video for their single, “You Know You Like It.”  The music video features the duo in an empty pool with a gang of strangely dressed dancers.  While the song is reminiscent of 90s R&B pop, it features minimal electronic instrumentation more like dupstep and modern house.  Check out the video below and look for their debut album Body Music in July.
