Ásgeir Trausti is an Icelandic singer-songwriter who has become something of an overnight sensation in Iceland by having fastest selling debut album by a domestic artist with his album, Dyrd i daudathogn (In The Silence) when it was released in September, 2012. He’s currently wrapping up his American release on One Little Indian. At the Iceland Music Awards last February he made an impressive awards spicking up Best Pop/Rock Album, Best Newcomer, the Icelandicmusic.com Award for online achievement and the Public Choice Award. There’s good reason for all the excitement over Ásgeir: at 20 years young, he’s a remarkably talented singer-songwriter with a voice as celestial as Jeff Buckley. The music is honest and warm with lots of space and a hypnotic quality to it that will have you coming back for repeated listenings.
