Meet Abington’s Young Pilgrims: lo-fi pop-punkers who also like Built to Spill

Local lo-fi pop-punk outfit Young Pilgrims have just released two singles, “All The Time” and “James Might Just Be Right” via their Bandcamp. The band has cited Weezer, Built To Spill, and The Wombats, among others, as inspiration – three very different bands, but listening to Young Pilgrims, it shows. So far this seems to be the only material released by the Abington four-piece, but it’s a promising start, and hopefully we’ll see more of them soon. Stream both tracks below.

Get Infected! Bucks County’s The Infected Flies opening for DIIV in State College

Rising Bucks County garage band The Infected Flies are traveling out to State College this week to play a free show with Pitchfork darlings DIIV and Penn State indie band Pantomime Dame; the show happens Thursday, December 6th at HUB. The Infected Flies are Leigh Ferrier on vocals, Tyler Zampirri on guitar, Ryan Neumann on drums, and Kurt Ennis on bass, and their fun pop-meets-punk sound and witty lyrics make them an act to watch as they perform across the state. Listen to Ferrier’s light voice contrast against the band’s alt-punk vibe on their Lickety Split EP (released earlier this year) on their Bandcamp page here. Find out more information about the all-ages event here, and watch The Infected Flies perform their song “Bean Dip” below.
