It’s funny, you know? They say “all circles end where they begin,” but sometimes you never really perceive life that way. I used to live in Central PA—not exactly a mecca for concerts. The first time I saw mewithoutYou was at a dive bar in York called The Depot, two or three years back. Local post-rock band Bells will be playing at Tellus 360 on August 22nd. The project started as a collaboration between Jon Hershey, the founder of August Burns Red and Sean Hennessey from various local projects including This or the Apocalypse. The lineup is wounded out by Tim Kettering, Joe Terranova (from Castle Worries) and Toby Pool (also from This or the Apocalypse). In 2012, the band released its debut full length album, Our Forest, Our Empire, an expansive, stunning set of instrumental music. Since then, they’ve played with some pretty big bands including the xx at World Cafe Live in Wilmington this May.

In a feature on Property of Zack last year, the band explained that “We don’t spend much time looking outward, measuring ourselves up against the current musical landscape. We’re not here to sell ourselves as if this is a business. We write music to humbly inspire and bring people together, anything more would feel fake.” Continue reading →
