Tove Lo | via windishagency.com

Pop princess Tove Lo is taking over the Electric Factory for an electric performance (heh, get it?) with Phoebe Ryan. She basically owned the Top 40 charts in 2016 with her collabs with Flum, Nick Jonas, and Coldplay, while even charting with her own sexually-charged single “Talking Body”. The Queen of the Clouds’ gig will be all ages, and more information/tickets can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar. Continue reading →

The Key Studio Sessions: Ben Kessler

Philly-area singer-songwriter Ben Kessler has been on our radar for a couple years now, which is crazy when you consider he has yet to graduate high school. But he’s been at it since he was 14, with a smooth vocal style and a sturdy knack for writing 70s-influenced pop songs. He’s released a handful of EPs on Bandcamp – most recently So It Goes, which debuted a year and a half ago – and his music channels Jackson Browne, Bill Withers, James Taylor – and more contemporarily, fellow Philadelphian Amos Lee. The folks over at In The Library, a video series curated and produced by Oveja of Naked Limbs Productions, have released some truly magical intimate performances from local acts — Ben Kessler and Flounder Warehouse’s Seann Cantatore (a Key intern) to name a few — and now they have a new video from one half of our recently-disbanded friends Nathan Earl and Rachel Joy, Nathan Allebach. Philly singer-songwriter Ben Kessler recently recorded two songs for acoustic performance series In The Library. The first of the two songs is a delicate cover of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love.” The second song he recorded for the series is an original called “From Me.” Ben shows off his guitar prowess and incredible vocal range in these songs. His style combines early John Mayer influences and John Butler-esque chord progressions. The most impressive thing about Ben’s talent is the fact that he is only seventeen years old, and he has won numerous awards and songwriting competitions, such as winning the 2014 Philadelphia Songwriters Project and the 2014 YoungArts Foundation Award.
