Listen to new music from R&B legend Betty Wright with The Roots and, yes, Lil Wayne

R&B singer Betty Wright had her biggest hit song in 1971 with “Clean Up Woman.” Wright is releasing her first new album in a decade next week called Betty Wright: The Movie. It’s a collaboration with The Roots and features performances with Snoop Dogg, Joss Stone, and Lenny Williams (former lead singer of Tower of Power and an R&B legend himself). Lil Wayne also helps out on the record on the song “Grapes On A Vine” that you can listen to below.

Betty Wright to release Betty Wright: The Movie (featuring Questlove of The Roots) on November 15th

Soul and R&B icon Betty Wright has just announced that she will release Betty Wright: The Movie—her first solo album since 2001’s Fit For A King—on November 15th. The album features Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson of The Roots as a co-producer; Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, and Joss Stone also make guest appearances. The album will be co-released via Wright’s own Ms. B label (which she has run for 25 years) and S-Curve Records. Below, you can watch a (partial) video of Wright performing “Go” (which is featured as a live bonus track on the album) at The 2011 The Roots Grammy Jam.
