Electronic music luminary Bonobo (offstage name: Simon Green) performed at Union Transfer in Philadelphia last Thursday night, drawing heavily on his recent fifth album, The North Borders. Nine of the album’s thirteen songs were performed with a stunning backing band, with back-catalog trips taken to showcase 2010’s Black Sands (“Stay The Same,” “Kiara”) 2006’s Days to Come (“Nightlite”) and more. Check out photos from the performance in the gallery below, and read the setlist after the jump.

Bonobo announces new leg of his tour (playing Union Transfer 10/10)

Bonobo

Although English DJ and electronic producer/composer Bonobo was here just this past April, a new leg of his American Tour brings him back to Philly on October 10th. So if you missed him at the TLA this spring (or just really enjoyed the show), you can catch him at Union Transfer this time around. Bonobo will once again be touring with a full instrumental band and playing a live set, illustrating his lush, layered sounds in person. Presale tickets are currently available for fans, and tickets go on general sale on June 15th. Meanwhile, check out the new music video for Bonobo’s “First Fires” featuring Grey Reverend, the first track off of The North Borders.

Tonight’s Concert Picks: Caveman at Johnny Brenda’s, Bonobo at The TLA, Young Man at North Star Bar, Tylan at World Cafe Live

CavemanCaveman headline Johnny Brenda’s tonight in support of their self-titled sophomore effort.  The Brooklyn band turned heads with their 2011’s CoCo Beware debut, an album that displayed an affinity for theatrical synths and instrumental phrases threaded and revisited throughout the tracks.  The four-piece employs that cohesiveness again on the new LP, with guitar riffs in lead single “In the City” being reprised in “Over My Head” and even echoing hooks from CoCo Beware standout “Old Friend.”  Tickets and information for tonight’s 21+ show with Son Step and Pure Bathing Culture can be found here.  Stream “In the City” below.
