Tonight’s Concert Picks: XPN Welcomes Boy at World Cafe Live, Chuck Ragan’s Revival Tour at the TLA, SpaceGhostPurrp at Underground Arts

BoyXPN welcomes Boy to World Cafe Live tonight. Celebrating their first US tour, the Swiss-German duo will be bringing their unbelievably happy medley of indie music to the quaint stages of World Cafe. The duo envelopes themselves within upbeat rhythms and sounds in the same vain as iconic indie groups such as Phoenix and Feist, with a little bit of Vampire Weekend thrown into the mix. Coupling with their debut tour in the US, the band will also be treating fans with tracks off their debut album Mutual Friends, which was released in 2011.  Tickets and information about their show with Ari Hest can be found here. The Week’s Best MP3 Downloads, incl. Chill Moody, BOY, Matt Pond

My Morning Download: “Little Numbers” by BOY (XPN Welcomes to World Cafe Live in March)

A new band for 2013 that we’re excited about is BOY, two women – Valeska Steiner & Sonja Glass – from Hamburg and Zurich. BOY’s debut album, Mutual Friends, is being released in the States on Nettwerk Records on February 26th. Their single, “Little Numbers” has gotten a little over 7 million views on Youtube and the album is filled with charming, melodically rich indie-pop songs. BOY making their Philly debut at World Cafe Live in March

One of our favorite new musical discoveries, BOY, are playing Philadelphia on March 27th at World Cafe Live. BOY are two women, Valeska Steiner & Sonja Glass. Steiner sang in several bands in her native Switzerland before moving to Germany, where she met Glass. Their debut album, Mutual Friends, is being released in the States on February 26th on Nettwerk Records. Mutual Friends is a collection of delicious and infectious indie-pop songs, as the video to the band’s first single “Little Numbers” in the States attests to below.
