Now this is huge. The mega-tour of my dreams was announced this week in the form of Philly punk sensations Modern Baseball heading out on a fall run with Brand New and The Front Bottoms. Speculation about this tour was flying around the internet a few days prior but it just seemed TOO good to be true, and so I brushed it off. Alas, you better believe your eyes because it is in fact happening and you’re not going to want to miss out on it. Although there’s no Philly date this time around, you’ll be able to catch them in Allentown, PA at the PPL Center on November 11th. While a lineup like that might provoke confusion, it doesn’t trip on it’s way to the bank — the Mann’s entire 14,000 capacity was entirely sold out mere days after tickets were on sale. The tour proved a big truth: While either band would likely struggle to sell out the amphitheater, the sum is greater than it’s constituent parts. The same could be said about each band’s distinctly divergent career. Continue reading →

Former lead singer of the Walkmen Hamilton Leithauser has set out on his solo career with the Jule release his debut album, Black Hours. With music reminiscent of the 1950s jazzy pop, Leithauser is expanding his sound, and brings his band to the Prince Music Theater tonight. Check out the XPN Concert Calendar for more information and listen to the single, “Alexandra,” below.
