An Umbrella for the Music Scene: Tracing the evolution of Broad Street Music Group

2014 marked the official end of an era when Philadelphia International Records closed. The revered label saw artists such as Teddy Pendergrass and Patti LaBelle working with the legendary producing team of Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff.

One local organization wants to do Gamble & Huff did for artists. They want to connect all the music resources in the city and make Philadelphia a top music market.

Broad Street Music Group is a name you may recognize. The event production company has been committed to the music scene for over two and a half years. Their goal was to “discovered the undiscovered.” And they’re not slowing down at all. Continue reading →

Broad Street Music Group kicks off 2014 with The Tressels, Thee Idea Men and more (at World Cafe Live on 1/3)

Broad Street Music Group takes their quest to showcase local talent into the new year with their first event of 2014, happening at World Cafe Live on January 3rd.  The featured artists for next month’s concert are cellist / singer Daniel Delaney, rock four-piece Satellite Hearts, quirky alt-rockers Thee, Idea Men, Drexel Hill’s The Tressels and jammy experimental band The Jawn.  Check out videos from the performers below and pick up tickets to the all-ages show here.  More information can be found on the Facebook event page.

Broad Street Music Group throwing launch party with Mic Stewart, The Burgeoning and more at Sigma Sound Studio on 8/17

Celebrating their official company launch this month, Broad Street Music Group is throwing a party at Sigma Sound Studio on August 17th with a line-up of 18 up-and-coming local acts and a few special guests.  The young company aims to support undiscovered artists in the Philadelphia area through promoting, booking and networking, working with local venues, radio stations and media outlets.  The launch party will feature performances by musicians that worked closely with BSMG over the last year and a half, including Mic Stewart, The Burgeoning and Matt Wade.  Tickets and information for the event can be found here.  Watch videos from a few of the performers below and revisit Mic Stewart’s Key Studio Session here.
