Local indie rockers Church Girls make a stop at Ortlieb’s for a fantastic gig with The National Reserve and Tinnarose. Think if Franke Cosmos decided to expand her haiku-like sound with some dirtier guitars, and you end up with some lovely post-punk. The gig is 21+, and more information/tickets can be found on the XPN Concert Calendar. Continue reading →

For the lucky Readingites that were at Caroline Reese‘s record release show last Friday night, the wait for Tenderfoot is over. For the rest of us, anticipation for the debut full-length from the Reading native / Philly resident continues to grow with each track we get to preview. We’ve ached with her on the electric-lit pop anthem “Snake Eyes,” reflected on past mistakes with “What I Did,” and with today’s premiere of “Stormchasers,” we’re diving deep into some sci-fi country rock territory.

The duo was able to coax out that joy that exists, but is sometimes dormant, in the studio during an evening in late May. I think that speaks a volumes about Reese’s future as a performer.
