See a Questlove Q&A, watch sets by Khari Mateen, Lushlife and Pow Pow at Underground Arts for Philly Tech Week

TechWith the 2013 edition of Philly Tech Week upon us, WXPN has teamed up with Little Giant Media for a performance, tech talk and DJ night at Underground Arts called The Intersection of Music and Technology.The free 21+ event happens on Sunday, April 28th beginning at 5 p.m.

Hosted by WXPN’s Bruce Warren, the event will kick off an hour-long Q&A with Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson of The Roots. Presentations will be made by the folks at Rapgenius.com, Soulspazm Digital and theFUTURE.fm, and DJ’s Dave P of Making Time and DJ Phsh will spin.

The centerpiece live performances will come from production wizard and sonic adventuerer Khari Mateen, electro-pop experimenter Chris Powell of Man Man performing under his Pow Pow moniker, and tech-savvy rapper Lushlife. Tonight: Dave P returns to the XPN airwaves with Making Time RADio (MT mega-rager happening at Vouyer)

Ever the expert on futuristic sounds, DJ Dave P returns to the XPN airwaves tonight for the April edition of Making Time RADio. He’ll doubtless be exploring some of the artists performing at the mega-stacked Making Time rager happening at Vouyer on April 12th (on the bill are Autre Ne Veut, Delorean, Jacques Greene and Doldrums, and it goes until 3:30 a.m.), and stay tuned when his show wraps up for the premier of The Indie Rock Hit Parade hosted by Eric Schuman. A Making Time Valentime for you (Parquet Courts and Inc. playing Voyeur on February 16th)


Making Time has a “valentime” for you in the shape of a Valentime’s Day weekend show featuring indie-rock’s newest blog rock darlings Parquet Courts and the Los Angeles R&B-tronica band Inc. on Saturday, February 16th at Voyeur. The usual Making Time DJ party crew will be on hand; Dave P, Sammy Slice, the Broadzilla DJ’s, Dave Pak & Mike Z and special guest DJ’s The Crystal Ark. Check out a song from each of the bands below. Last Friday night, DJ Dave P celebrated two years of Making Time RADio on WXPN with a playlist of his trademark futuristic sounds running the gamut from new songs from The xx and Boys Noize to remixes of Hot Chip and Matthew Dear. The next edition of Making Time RADio airs on 88.5 FM on Friday, September 7, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Making Time RADio two-year anniversary (listening party at Morgan’s Pier this Friday)

This Friday’s August edition of Making Time RADio will mark the two year anniversary of DJ Dave P hosting the show and bringing what he loves to refer to as “futuristic sounds” to the airwaves of WXPN. From 7 to 9 p.m., he will be broadcasting live on 88.5 from WXPN studio; during the show there will be a free Making Time RADio listening party at Morgan’s Pier where devotees and listeners can congregate and celebrate.
