With the 2013 edition of Philly Tech Week upon us, WXPN has teamed up with Little Giant Media for a performance, tech talk and DJ night at Underground Arts called The Intersection of Music and Technology.The free 21+ event happens on Sunday, April 28th beginning at 5 p.m.

Hosted by WXPN’s Bruce Warren, the event will kick off an hour-long Q&A with Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson of The Roots. Presentations will be made by the folks at Rapgenius.com, Soulspazm Digital and theFUTURE.fm, and DJ’s Dave P of Making Time and DJ Phsh will spin.

The centerpiece live performances will come from production wizard and sonic adventuerer Khari Mateen, electro-pop experimenter Chris Powell of Man Man performing under his Pow Pow moniker, and tech-savvy rapper Lushlife. Ever the expert on futuristic sounds, DJ Dave P returns to the XPN airwaves tonight for the April edition of Making Time RADio. He’ll doubtless be exploring some of the artists performing at the mega-stacked Making Time rager happening at Vouyer on April 12th (on the bill are Autre Ne Veut, Delorean, Jacques Greene and Doldrums, and it goes until 3:30 a.m.), and stay tuned when his show wraps up for the premier of The Indie Rock Hit Parade hosted by Eric Schuman. Making Time has a “valentime” for you in the shape of a Valentime’s Day weekend show featuring indie-rock’s newest blog rock darlings Parquet Courts and the Los Angeles R&B-tronica band Inc. on Saturday, February 16th at Voyeur. This Friday’s August edition of Making Time RADio will mark the two year anniversary of DJ Dave P hosting the show and bringing what he loves to refer to as “futuristic sounds” to the airwaves of WXPN. From 7 to 9 p.m., he will be broadcasting live on 88.5 from WXPN studio; during the show there will be a free Making Time RADio listening party at Morgan’s Pier where devotees and listeners can congregate and celebrate. This Saturday night (Oct. 29th) is the Making Time Halloween Warehouse Project with Dam-Funk and Master Blaster and Dawn Of The Dead. The Making Time DJ crew will be spinning with sets from Dave P. (the host of XPN’s Making Time RADio), Sammy Slice, Pink Skull, Adam Sparkle, The Broadzilla DJs and The Spirit of Thomzilla. The Making Time Halloween Project is at 521 Cecil B. Moore (5th & Cecil B. Moore @ Randolph Streets). Tickets to the 21+ event are $15. Below, check out the tribute video the Making Time crew made based on Michael Jackson’s Thriller. This weekend the Making Time crew is throwing two events. Tomorrow (Friday) night at Voyeur starting at 9 p.m. the Making Time DJs will host live music from Factory Floor, Anika, and Dirty Beaches. On Sunday, October 2nd, the age restrictions come down for an under-21 event at The Barbary starting at 8 p.m. with Factory Floor, Making Time resident DJs Dave P (host of WXPN’s Making Time RADio), Sammy Slice and Mike Z. The Drums and WU LYF are booked to play Making Time on Saturday, November 5th at Voyeur. The Drums are releasing their new album Portamento on Frenchkiss Records on September 13th. WU LYF released one of the best albums of the year so far (Pitchfork gave it a “Best New Music” thumbs up) Go Tell Fire To The Mountain. Get ready to hyper-rage with Making Time July 29th and August 5th at Voyeur

Dave P and the folks at Making Time have been going hard all summer, and the next two weekends should prove to be no exception. They’ll serve as the conclusion to their summer of hyper-raging, featuring two extra-special bangers taking place at Voyeur.

: Craft Spells

The first event goes down this Friday, July 29th from 9 p.m.-3:30 a.m. Performers include pop-rock four-piece Dom, Seattle indie-poppers Craft Spells, and Cali indie-psych newcomers Gardens & Villa. The entire gang of Making Time residents—including Dave P, Sammy Slice, Dave Pak, Mike Z, Joel Flood, Russ Alexander, Steve Vena, Adam Sparkles, Pink Skull (DJ set), and The Broadzilla DJs—will be in attendance as well. Get there early for complimentary PBR, Sparks, and Sailor Jerry rum drinks from 9 p.m.-11 p.m.; if you miss those you can still chow down on free hot dogs all night long. Tickets are $10 and are available in advance here.

The second hyper-rager will take place on Friday, August 5th, from 9 p.m.-3:30 a.m., again at Voyeur. Live guests will include synth-pop project Cold Cave and Canadian new-wave trio Austra. Dave P and the whole Making Time crew will rock the dance floors both on the main floor and in the basement. The same free drink and hot dog deals apply; tickets to this event are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. If you’re looking to rage extra hard and save a few bucks, MT is offering a 2-Day Hyper-Rager Pass for $20, available for purchase online here.
