Philly newcomers The Daylight Savings And Loan play exactly the type of herky-jerky, pixie-stick pop you’d expect from a band gigging with The Spinto Band. And while they’re on a bill with their Wilmington buds at Johnny Brenda’s tonight, the Spintos are taking the back seat and giving DS&L the spotlight. Believe, the foursome’s debut, is celebrating its official release at the show. It’s tough to make heads or tails of the EP’s awesomely bizarre cover art collage. (I’m guessing it’s a play on “bird-brain,” yeah? So what’s with the electrode?) But the music is jumpy, fun, and nowhere near as disturbing. Check out “If You Live A Long Live” below: its speedy beat and distorted vocal refrain draw equally from “Summer Grof” and “Smokin’ Banana Peels.” The Daylight Savings And Loan performs with The Spinto Band and Paper Masques at 9 p.m. at Johnny Brenda’s; tickets to the 21+ show are $10.
