The multi-stage event included guests Diplo and The Manhattan Project, among others, and this week the Biscuits made their three sets of the weekend available as downloads here. Vibe out to a City Bisco Spotify playlist put together by guest contributors The Disco Biscuits (festival at The Mann Center this weekend)
| The bright lights and electro-rock vibes of the extended Disco Biscuits family will set up camp at The Mann Center this weekend for the Biscuits’ inaugural City Bisco festival, happening on Friday October 5th and Saturday the 6th. It gathers together an eclectic array of artists – some have performed with these innovative Philly-based electronic jam rockers (the very like-minded Brothers Past), others are movers and shakers whose own beats and textures are perfect compliments to the Biscuit’ vibe (the funky RJD2, eclectic hitmaker Diplo). Tickets and information on the festival can be found here. This week, we enlisted the Disco Biscuits as guest contributors to The Key; check out their Spotify playlist to your left, and read a festival overview below. |
Hey guys – it’s Aron Magner from the Disco Biscuits, bringing you our first guest post on The Key in honor of City Bisco! Our first-ever urban Bisco extravaganza goes down this weekend at the Mann Center, where we’ll be joined each day by an all-star lineup.

Our wish list is always large and there are a ton of moving parts, but at the end of the day we are consistently proud of the full lineup we present when these events come together, and CITY BISCO is no exception. These are all artists you should know about if you don’t already, so I’ve put together a little playlist with some favorites for you to check out. Hope you enjoy! Continue reading
Download “About That Life,” a trippy new single from Diplo (playing City Bisco at The Mann Center Oct. 5)
Philly hit-maker Diplo just released a vibey new track off his upcoming solo album. “About That Life” is a big departure from his previous work with its layered Eastern-influenced instrumentals and vocals that create a psychedelic vibe a la mid-1960s Beatles. Fittingly, the song features vocals by Jahan Lennon, also known as Zeb of the now defunct Mad Decent-signed group POPO. Rethink your perception of Diplo and vibe out to this new track in the player below. Diplo is back in town on Friday October 5 to perform at The Disco Biscuits’ City Bisco music festival at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets and information on the two-day event can be found here.
Watch a new video from Major Lazer for “Get Free”
Local-boy-gone-L.A. Diplo teamed up with former Major Lazer-mate Switch and The Dirty Projector‘s Amber Coffman for his latest single, “Get Free.” The group worked with director SoMe to produce a new music video for the song, which is notable for its low-key vibes and laid-back flutey tones. “Get Free” is featured on Major Lazer’s forthcoming album, Free the Universe, out November 6th on Downtown/Mad Decent. Watch the video for “Get Free” below.
Mad Decent Block Party lineup announced, features Bonde Do Role, POPO, and others
Brace yourselves: the dudes over at Mad Decent are gearing up for their annual Block Party and with the line-up they announced yesterday, things are definitely going to get loud, probably crazy, and certainly awesome. This year, names gracing Penn’s Landing’s Great Plaza include Major Lazer (of course), as well as Bonde Do Role, Riff Raff, DJ Sega, Reptar, POPO, and others. If you’re all about the new-school electronica, hip-hop, and experimental wave, this is the train you don’t want to miss. The Party goes down from noon to 9pm on August 4th. The event is free for all ages, but an RSVP is required (you can RSVP here). For more information — including the full line-up — check out the Facebook event page.
