UArts alum turned pop sensation Elle King returns to Philly tonight for a gig at The Fillmore. King has been on The Key’s radar for quite some time now, and her countrified rock music is hard to forget and even harder not to like. Her song “Ex’s and Oh’s” off her debut album Love Stuff catapulted the LA native into the spotlight last year. Recap: Elle King kicks off NonCOMM with some southwestern twang

Los Angeles singer-songwriter Elle King brought NonCOMM 2015 to a rollicking start with a set of twangy countrified rock and roll. Playing a set centered around her new album Love Stuff, released in February on RCA Records, King reminisced with the crowd about her time living in Philly, joked about the tuning of her banjo and jammed out to cuts like the uber-catchy “Under The Influence.” Check out photos from her set in the gallery below. Singer-songwriter, guitarist and banjo player Elle King’s new track, “Ex’s & Oh’s,” is a fiery roots rock stomper. Raised on soul, R&B, country and bluegrass, King released her debut EP in 2012. At the time, we were enamored with the song “Playing For Keeps” from the EP, and she performed at WXPN’s NonCOMM in 2012. The daughter of comedian Rob Schneider and actress London King, Elle grew up in Ohio, New York and spent time in Philly where she attended the University of The Arts. Continue reading →


WXPN broadcasting Non-Commvention shows with Grace Potter, War On Drugs, Willie Nelson, Rufus Wainwright, Brandi Carlile, Polica, Norah Jones and more

Next Wednesday, May 16th through Saturday, May 17th WXPN’s annual music conference, the Non-Commvention, rolls in to World Cafe Live and WXPN. This is the 12th year for the industry conference started by WXPN’s Dan Reed when he worked at WFPK in Louisville, Kentucky. Hundreds of music industry personnel will be in town from various radio stations across the country alongside industry publicists, labels representatives, digital media folks, managers, and listeners and members of WXPN. The lineup for this year’s Non-Comm includes dozens of bands who will be performing at World Cafe Live Wednesday through Friday night, and a listener appreciation Free At Noon on Saturday at Penn Park. WXPN will be broadcasting and webcasting the following sets live:
