There were many audience members on their feet and swaying to the grooves of Nashville’s Fly Golden Eagle as they hit the Marina Stage. WXPN’s Artist to Watch for October is the Nashville based band Fly Golden Eagle. The band releases their sprawling, 26 song sophomore album, Quartz, on Tuesday, October 14th. For the band’s second release, lead singer and songwriter Ben Trimble looked towards a 1973 movie called The Holy Mountain for inspiration. The film is a Mexican-American avant-garde drama directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky. The film was produced by Beatles manager Allen Klein, and was funded by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and George Harrison. Inspired by the movie, Trimble found himself writing the songs that would become Quartz. Continue reading →
