All week on World Cafe with David Dye, the Sense of Place series is exploring the city of Memphis and its musical heritage. Today, we take a video tour of Elvis Presley’s home, Graceland, from the living room to the jungle room. You can listen to the Sense of Place series on WXPN at 2 p.m. Monday through Friday all this week, or at 7 p.m. on XPN2: Singer-Songwriter Radio.
Last April, WXPN threw its first-ever Film and Music Festival, and the featured screening on closing night was Under African Skies, a new documentary about Paul Simon’s landmark album Graceland, and his return to South Africa to perform a reunion concert in celebration of the album’s 25th anniversary. The entire movie is now online for free streaming; if you missed it at the festival, check it out below!
