Ah, Human BBQ, the sweet celebration of music and roasting flesh (or at least hot dogs) took over Pilam again this year, with 17 bands playing the UPenn frat house between noon and midnight. Mischief Brew releases “No Candlesticks,” catch them at Human BBQ this weekend

Philly four-piece Mischief Brew has been an independent touring band for 15 years, but they’re getting ready to release their first record through a label – celebrated punk imprint Alternative Tenticales. This spring, the band released the single “No Candlesticks,” a song from the forthcoming album This Is Not For Children. The fast paced track isn’t short on powerful basslines, racing rock n’ roll riffs and shouting choruses we’ve grown to love from the band. Continue reading →

Pi Lam’s Human BBQ lineup is stacked and we’re stoked

The 37th annual Human BBQ festival fast approaches and the event looks killer. Hosted by Penn fraternity Pi Lambda Phi, the event boasts 21 bands in the lineup, including Philly punk groups Mischief Brew, DRGN KING, and Slow Animal among a slew of others. The event will also have plenty of food for consumption, including your typical barbecue items as well as vegetarian and vegan options. Pi Lam announces line-up for Human BBQ XXXVI, including Slingshot Dakota, Laser Background, Alex G and more

West Philly’s punk frat house Pi Lam has announced the line-up for its 36th annual Human BBQ, taking place Saturday, April 5th.  The 18-band, day-long festival will feature performers from across the genre spectrum, including Haverford fan favorites Alex G, psych-Americana outfit Heat Thunder and “rotten fuzz punk” four-piece Mumblr.  Heading up the meat and music event are upbeat pop punkers Slingshot Dakota, post-hardcore emo outfit Secret Plot to Destroy the Entire Universe and indie rockers Cold Fronts.  The mostly-local bill is filled out by Laser Background, Roof Doctor, ScooterJinx, Told Slant, Is and of The, No Stranger, Memorial Gore, The Interest Group, David Phosphor Walrus and Teenage Bigfoot.  More information can be found on the Facebook event page here.  Check out music from some of the acts below.

West Philly’s long-standing punk rock frat Pi Lam threw its annual Human BBQ celebration (35 years strong!) this weekend with a stacked lineup of Philadelphia favorites like Cold Fronts, Norwegian Arms and Ghost Light as well as out-of-town artists like Delicate Steve.
