Tonight’s Indie Rock Hit Parade is stacked, top to bottom, with special things you simply cannot miss. I just won’t allow it. Tune in starting at 11pm tonight (or better yet, stay tuned after Land of The Lost with Robert Drake) for a full two-hour show that will feature: A brand new, live in-studio session with the Buffalo, NY “pop cult” Hussalonia. Their music has been heard on Welcome To Night Vale and they just released their fifth album of 2015 alone! We’ll hear new songs and old ones in a stripped-down set. We’ll also dig into Stuff Like That There, the new album from Hoboken’s finest, Yo La Tengo. Plus a few of these tracks in case that all wasn’t enough (has anyone ever told you that you’re kinda hard to please):

If you’re looking for action, look no further than tonight’s Indie Rock Hit Parade on XPN. Starting at 11pm, it’s a non-stop, two-hour showcase of some seriously great new releases (with a couple of old favorites thrown in for good measure). The centerpiece of tonight’s show is our Weekly Album Spotlight, where we’ll be hearing a few tracks from Beat The Champ, the new release from The Mountain Goats. Sure, this is their 15th full-length, but John Darnielle and company have become reinvigorated over the past few years, amping up production value and honing the wry and personal lyrics that have become the band’s trademark. Even if you’re not a fan of professional wrestling, you won’t be able to resist the self-examination and reflection (and hooks) to be found on Beat The Champ. Aside from that, we’ve got a stacked lineup of new tunes to get to, including a few of these.

Our latest Indie Rock Hit Parade live session is with the Australian band Jack Ladder and the Dreamlanders. To call this group the electro/dream pop vehicle for singer/guitarist Tim Rogers (a.k.a. Jack Ladder) would be putting it a bit too simply. Featuring several prolific musicians in its traveling roster, the Dreamlanders is just one outlet of a creative hive-mind. With the collaborative aid of guitarist Kirin J. Callinan, bassist Donny Benet, drummer Laurenz Pike and keyboardist Neal Sutherland, Jack Ladder brings songs from his new album, Playmates, to life in our studio.

When I finished listening to “Come On Back This Way” by Jack Ladder and the Dreamlanders for the first time late last year, I immediately listened to it again. And again. So it’s very exciting for me to tell you that Jack Ladder and the Dreamlanders are joining us tonight for a live set on tonight’s Indie Rock Hit Parade. Tune in starting at 11pm for a full two-hour show, which will also feature a spotlight on the fantastic new album by Baltimore’s Lower Dens, Escape From Evil. If you liked the nervy krautrock of their last album, Nootropics, you might be in for a surprise as Lower Dens take on the darkwave sounds of the mid-’80s on this new release. Be sure to catch these new tracks in the mix, too:

And if you’ve somehow waited this long to listen to Courtney Barnett‘s debut album, Sometimes I Sit And Think And Sometimes I Just Sit, then you’re in luck. We’ll play a few songs from Courtney on our Weekly Album Spotlight.

Tune in for these new tracks, too:
