Jo Kusy turned in a new record last week, following up last year’s Wild Violets with the self-produced songs on No One Else. The Far-Out Fangtooth guitarist tends to explore the subtler, dreamier side of psych rock on his solo material, making No One Else a great lazy summer day soundtrack.
When we caught up with local guy Jo Kusy this week about an album he released in February called You Break Me, he told us about even newer record he just completed called Wild Violets. The cassette will be out in a few days via Time Castle Records, complete with violet-scented paper and a release show at Beautiful World Syndicate on Sunday, April 3rd.
Magic Death Sounds has announced details of its 3rd annual block party, taking place in Fishtown on August 30th. The two-stage event will showcase the tape label’s roster of artists along with other up-and-coming locals, including electronic soul-pop project APHRA, psych-rock songwriter Jo Kusy, electronic experimentalist Power Animal and more. There will also be food, drinks, and flea market vendors on hand, making it the kind of block party you won’t want to leave. Check out a highlight reel of last year’s party below and get more details here.
