Download “Vaya Con Dios” by Wilkes Barre’s Cherokee Red (playing J.R.’s Bar on 4/18)

cherokee red dec 2012 7Wilkes-Barre folk-pop five-piece Cherokee Red will bring their quaint and dreamy sound down the Pennsylvania Turnpike this week for an appearance at South Philly venue J.R.’s Bar. The band has been around since 2011, and at points is smooth, jazzy and playful – not unlike Regina Spektor or The Ditty Bops – but also has a contemplative side more in line with bands like The Innocence Mission and Mazzy Star. Their song “Cherokee Red” was featured as a My Morning Download a few weeks back – download it again in the player below, and get information on Thursday night’s show here.
