The legendary New Orleans R&B/soul singer Aaron Neville returns with a new album, called My True Story on January 22nd. It’s Neville’s debut for Blue Note Records and the album was produced by Keith Richards and Don Was. Neville was backed on the album by an incredible group of session players including Richards on guitar, Greg Leisz on guitar (Beck, Sheryl Crow, Bob Dylan, Ryan Adams), Benmont Tench on organ, drummer George G. Receli (Bob Dylan, James Brown), and bassist Tony Scherr on bass (Bill Frisell, Norah Jones, Rufus Wainwright). On the album he covers some classic pop and R&B songs including Curtis Mayfield’s “Gypsy Woman,” “Be My Baby” (written by Phil Spector, Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich), “Little Bitty Pretty One,” and songs by the legendary writing teams of Doc Pomus & Mort Shuman and Jerry Leiber & Michael Stoller.
