Five months since the release of his incredible Good Kid: M.A.A.D City, rapper Kendrick Lamar continues to hold sway in its popularity. Lamar recently performed “Poetic Justice,” and “Girl Don’t Kill My Vibe” on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Watch the videos below. Lamar is playing the Firefly Music Festival on a lineup that includes Tom Petty, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Vampire Weekend, Foster The People, Grizzly Bear, MGMT and many others.

XPN welcomes the return of Firefly Festival to The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway on June 21st-23rd. The line-up is huge this year, with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty and Foster the People headlining the multi-day festival and over sixty of the biggest established and rising acts in the country filling out the bill. Firefly’s diverse bill includes Vampire Weekend, rapper Kendrick Lamar, Public Enemy, Philly’s Dr. Dog, The Walkmen and the Spinto Band, Ellie Goulding, The Avett Brothers, Passion Pit, Calvin Harris, Grizzly Bear, Toro Y Moi, ZZ Ward, Matt and Kim, Dispatch, and new favorites HAIM, Wild Belle and Foxygen. Tonight’s Concert Picks: Kendrick Lamar at the TLA, Ian Hunter at World Cafe Live, Panic Years at MilkBoy, Attic Dancers at The Fire, Camp Jam in the Pines

Kendrick Lamar is an emerging rapper from Los Angeles who’s been praised for balancing hard-hitting contemporary hiphop sounds with a message behind the music. His album good kid, m.A.A.d city is being released on Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records in October, and he plays The TLA on South Street tonight. The all-ages show begins at 7 p.m. and admission is $36; tickets and information are available here. Below, check out a video for Kendrick Lamar’s song “Swimming Pools.”

Former Mott The Hoople frontman and David Bowie collaborator Ian Hunter has penned a number of songs you probably don’t even realize are his – for instance, “Cleveland Rocks” (better known as the theme from The Drew Carey Show) and “Once Bitten, Twice Shy” (popularized by 80s hard rockers Great White). His latest solo record, When I’m President, came out on September 4, and he plays World Cafe Live downstairs tonight. Philly alt-rock four-piece Panic Years are back from their recent tour in support of the excellent new full-length The Month’s Mind, and they play MilkBoy tonight. New Philly three-piece Attic Dancers released an impressive LP back in April called Carrier. It mixed driving, catchy alt-rock structures with dreamy, textured soundscapes, and we’re pretty psyched to find out how it translates live. See for yourself when the band plays The Fire tonight with Wilmington’s New Sweden. The 21+ show begins at 8 p.m., admission is $7, tickets and information are available here. Across the bridge at Old Cedar Campground in Monroeville, N.J., XPN Welcomes the 14th Annual Camp Jam In the Pines. The three-day festival kicks off tonight and features performances from an eclectic array of artists including Roomful of Blues, Big Sam’s Funky Nation and Entrain. The Under the Influence of Music Tour is coming to the Susquehanna Bank Center this Friday. The tour features performances by hip-hop artists Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, Philadelphia’s own Chiddy Bang, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, and Chevy Woods.
