Lady Alma was and still is a voice to be reckoned with. The prominent Philadelphia vocalist might have taken a hiatus ten years ago, but is officially back and better than ever.

“I could not believe the power of these women.” King Britt recounted. “[I] instantly wanted to record with them, it was such an honor.” Continue reading →

Legendary vocalist Lady Alma hit the local airwaves last week, joining WKDU host Chris B on his Tuesday evening Hot Mix show. The West Philadelphia native live-riffed over some great house, R&B and funk tracks while highlighting a few favorites from her own catalog, like 2014’s “It’s House Music.” Between songs by Fela Kuti, D’Angelo and The Roots, Alma shared a new song she recorded with King Britt for his Sylk130 greatest hits album What Happened Was… called “Rise Up” (learn more about Britt’s project here).
