American Diamond Recordings, led by Toy Soldiers’ Ron Gallo, will have a huge show July 3rd at the Boot and Saddle. Named after the intersection of American and Diamond street where the record label officesis located, ADR promises to make Philly a “force in the music industry”. The show, entitled “Diamond Recordings Celebrates Marley McNamara’s Birthday Bash” features prominent Philadelphia artists like the charismatic Ron Gallo, the whimsical Lawsuits and bluesy TJ Kong and the Atomic Bomb and some band from Lititz called Eight Legged Prawn.

The show is a birthday celebration for their managerial artist and “debutante” Marley McNamara. Astonishingly, all the artists on ADR have done Key Studio Sessions, which is pretty phenomenal. Check out the Lawsuits, the Levee Drivers, and the Toy Soldiers sessions. In May, ADR released the first ever Porta Session with TJ Kong and the Atomic Bomb, which you can watch below. In a short time span, ADR certainly has made an impact on the Philly music scene. Check out the show at Boot and Saddle July 3rd. Get more details here. Watch the Porta Session below.

The band is playing at Johnny Brenda’s on Friday, October 18th. Find more information and tickets for the show here. Watch Lawsuits perform “Long Drive Home” from their WXPN Key Studio Session below.

Tonight’s Concert Picks: 4th of July Jam at the Parkway, Toy Soldiers and Lawsuits at Jamaican Jerk Hut, The Downtown Club at Ortlieb’s

It’s 4th of July again, and that means another 4th of July Jam at the Parkway.  Aside from the free food and events throughout the day, there’s an amazing lineup of musicians that you can see for free.  The list includes John Mayer, Jill Scott, Ne-Yo, Grace Potter, J. Cole, Ben Taylor, Marsha Ambrosius and of course The Roots.  All of this hosted by comedian Kevin Hart.

If you get an early start, there’s even a second stage for up-and-coming artists – dubbed The Questlove Stage – featuring Gliss, Chill Moody, and more. As far as price and lineup go, you can’t get much better than this.  All you have to do is show up at the Ben Franklin Parkway. And who knows what kinds of surprises The Roots might have in store. At their Roots Picnic, Meek Mill did a guest appearance during their set. Last year at the 4th of July Jam, soul singer / rapper Lauryn Hill surprised the crowd with a blistering appearance. Watch video of Hill and the Roots below.
