She Got It: Lee Mazin talks about climbing the Dreamchasers ranks and making the perfect summer jam

First Lady of Meek Mill’s Dreamchasers camp, Lee Mazin has emerged along with artist like Tink, Angel Haze and Nitty Scott MC as being the new guard of women emerging on the national hip-hop scene.  Much like the other artists mentioned, Lee displays a distinct sound all her own.  Cunning and witty with a rawness in her flow that can only come from her Philly roots, Lee’s newest anthem “She Got It” is just about ready to blow up and be her biggest single yet – it’s perfect for the summer.  Luckily I got a chance to briefly talk with Mazin and discuss working with her mentor Meek, along with her own music and what’s coming up in the future. Johnny Showcase brings his Lefty Lucy Cabaret to World Cafe Live upstairs tonight. The absurdist funk-pop-disco eight-piece will release its new record The Octopus this spring after hosting a successful Kickstarter campaign. The LP comes three years after the groups debut Love Is the Message, which they revisited last summer for the video “Hit It From the Back.” Tickets and information for tonight’s show with Timur and the Dime Museum can be found here. Cheif Keef to headline eight artist blowout at TLA tonight

The TLA will host a massive lineup headlined by Chicago rapper Cheif Keef as well as seven other performers tonight. The 17 year old hip-hop artist, who is the CEO and founder of the Chicago label Glory Boys Entertainment, released his highly anticipated debut Finally Rich this past Tuesday through Interscope Records and GBE. Cheif Keef rocketed to fame earlier this year with his viral hit, “I Don’t Like,” and the subsequent remix on G.O.O.D. music’s Cruel Summer. The guest line-up, consisting of exclusively Philadelphia hip-hop artists, includes Blonde Gang (recently featured in JUMP Magazine), Lee Mazin, Ar-AB, Young Savage, Ground Up and Tiana Victoria.
